THE LATE E.M. LAYMAN - The funeral services of the late E.M. Layman, who died from the result of an accident on Sept. 21st, (reported on page 1) was conducted by Elder J.E. Adams at the Cedar Valley schoolhouse, the interment taking place at the cemetery at that place. The accident happened, says Mr. Adams, near the Harry Mesecher place in Cedar Valley. Mr. Layman had a load of straw, and while going down the grade at that point, the load turned over and threw him to the ground with great violence, as he never recovered consciousness, passing away the next morning. The deceased was born in Minnesota, in 1864; was married in 1886 to Miss Rebecca Oxborough; and in 1902 they moved to Cedar Valley. There are eight children in the family, the oldest 16 years and the youngest 2 years. The bereaved wife and fatherless children have the heartfelt sympathy of the people of that section.
