EDDITH LEATON
Eddith Merle Leaton, a resident of the White Salmon area
since early childhood, died Friday in White Salmon. She was 86.
Mrs. Leaton was born Dec. 31, 1894, in Portland, Ore.,
to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cornett, and came to White Salmon in 1905. She graduated
from White Salmon High School and 1915 and later graduated from Central
Washington College of Education. She taught school in the White Salmon area
for 44 years before retiring in 1963.
She was a member of the Rebekahs and the Order of Eastern
Star, and the state and national Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Leaton is survived by two sisters, Bernice Smith
and Jessie Peeler, both of White Salmon, four nieces, two nephews and several
cousins.
Funeral services for Mrs. Leaton were held Monday at
Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon with the Rev. Frederick Haag officiated.
Interment was in the White Salmon cemetery.
Contributions in honor of Mrs. Leaton can may be made
to the Congregational Church Memorial Fund or to Skyline Hospital.
