TROUT LAKE GIRL DROWNS IN IRRIGATION DITCH
Ethel Marie Robbins, the four year old daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Wm. Robbins of Trout Lake, was drowned in an irrigation ditch Monday
morning at 10 o'clock. The little girl was playing house near the ditch and
it is thought she slipped in when she tried to get some water. Her mother
missed her when she looked that way and sounded an alarm. A neighbor boy,
Lusk, found the little girl 15 minutes later about a quarter of a mile down
the ditch. The ditch was about five feet deep.
The funeral services were held in the family home Tuesday
afternoon with Rev. Good of Trout Lake in charge and were largely attended.
Mrs. J.E. Reynolds, Mrs. Carl Pearson and Mrs. Orin Pearson sang beautifully,
accompanied by Mrs. Ralph Brown at the piano. The pallbearers were Kenneth
Good, Harold Good, Robert Thomas, Leonard Borigo and Benjamin
Jerman.
The remains were laid to rest in the White Salmon cemetery,
Mr. McFadden being in charge of the services at the grave.
Ethel Marie Robbins was 3 years and 11 months, born on
July 20th, 1923, and passed away June 20th.
The little girl was the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs.
W.F. Brown of North White Salmon.
