Evelyn Peterson Manchester Hanna, 81, of Laurinburg,
NC, formerly of Syracuse, passed away Friday.
She and husband John P. "Jack" Hanna moved to Laurinburg
in 2001 from New Bern, NC. She volunteered for the Institute for Cultural
Affairs, Jamaica; Haiti Fund Inc., Haiti; Guardian Ad Litem; and was a member
of the Laurenburg Presbyterian church and an associate member of Wesley United
Methodist Church, Concord, NH.
Survivors: husband John, Laurinburg; five sons: Charles
Allen Manchester, John Peterson Hanna, James Parks Hanna, Jeffrey Phillips
Hanna, and R. Scott Hanna; four grandchildren; and one grandchild.
Service: Monday, May 2, 10:30 a.m., at Laurinburg
Presbyterian Church. Inurnment: Concord. NH. Contributions: Scotia Village

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Evelyn Peterson Manchester Hanna,
81, of Scotia Village, passed to life eternal Friday, April 29, 2005, in
Scotland Memorial Hospital, after a long illness.
Born in Portland, Ore., on 16 Sept. 1923, Mrs. Hanna
was preceded in death by her parents, Sanford B. Peterson and Amanda Berg
Peterson of Trout Lake, Wash., and sisters, Arlene Peterson Belt and Mildred
Peterson Farmer of Oregon.
Beyond much homemaking, her youthful smile and caring
life were used in Meals on Wheels, in rural development work with the Institute
for Cultural Affairs in Jamaica and with the Haiti Fund Inc. in Haiti, guardian
ad litem volunteer and many church activities. She was a member of Laurinburg
Presbyterian Church and an associate member of Wesley United Methodist Church
of Concord, N.H. Evelyn and Jack came to Laurinburg and Scotia Village in
2001 after living 17 years in New Bern and two years on a boat in
retirement.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday,
2 May 2005, in Laurinburg Presbyterian Church with Neal Carter officiating
and with a reception following. Inurnment will be in Concord the week of
15 May 2005.

Mrs. Hanna was the beloved wife of John P. "Jack" Hanna;
a devoted and loving mother of five sons, Charles Allen Manchester of Pittsburgh,
John Peterson Hanna and wife, Christina Lynn, of Charlotte, James Parks Hanna
of Fort Laurderdale, Fla., Jeffrey Phillips Hanna and wife, Barbara Gail,
of Mount Vernon, Maine, and R. Scott Hanna and wife, Patricia Kramer, of
Macungie, Pa. She was also a proud grandmother of four, Melissa Manchester,
Craig Manchester, Georgia Hanna and Seona Hanna; and great-grandmother of
Cierra Hoover.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Scotia
Village Foundation, 2200 Elm Ave., Laurinburg, NC 28352; or the Haiti Fund
Inc., P.O. Box 1075, New Bern, NC 28563.
