     Ernest C. Smith, 64 year-old Klickitat resident, died at a hospital at The Dalles Tuesday of last week. Funeral services were held at Lyle Thursday morning. Mr. Smith was born at Seattle on August 14, 1877. He was a carpenter by trade. He is survived by his widow and three step-daughters, Mrs. F.E. O'Neal, of Vancouver; Mrs. Dena Berry, of Klickitat, and Mrs. Hazel Hall, of Kent; three brothers, Fred, of Scappoose; Elmer, of Cottage Grove, and Walter E., of Yakima; and two sisters, Mrs. Nora McCann, of Beaverton, Ore., and Mrs. Lillian Hylton, of Lyle. Interment was at Appleton.

OBITUARY

     Ernest C. Smith was born August 14, 1870, in King county, Washington. He moved with his parents to Lyle, Washington, in 1881, being one of the pioneers of the Lyle section. He passed away in the hospital at the Dalles December 11, 1934, aged 64 years.
     Besides his widow he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Nora McCann of Beaverton, Ore., and Mrs. U.F. Hylton of Lyle, Washington, and three brothers, F.H. Smith of Scapoose, Ore., Elmer J. Smith of Cottage Grove, Ore., and Walter E. of Yakima, Washington.
    Funeral services were held at the Lyle Methodist church with the minister, Rev. Roy Jenkins, officiating. Interment was made in the Appleton cemetery.
