EMIL SCHWARZ
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock
at the Gardner chapel for Emil Schwarz who died last Thursday, June 28 in
White Salmon. Rev. George Jefferson officiated and interment was at the Oddfelows
Cemetery.
Emil Schwarz was born December 4, 1873 in Essen, Germany.
He was a meat cutter by trade, having served his apprenticeship in Germany.
He came to the United States in 1891 and lived first at Buffalo, New York.
A number of years later he moved to Omaha. From Omaha he moved to Iowa where
he operated his first butcher shop. In 1939 he came west to Maupin, Oregon,
and in 1940 he moved to White Salmon where he worked for 3½ years in
Kuhnausen's market and for 1½ years at a market in Stevenson.
Surviving him are his daughter, Mrs. Martho Barker; and
two granddaughters, Betty Jean Barker and Joan Belle Barker, all of White
Salmon.
