JAEKEL
Esther Jaekel, 96, of Goldendale, passed away April 18.
Mrs. Jaekel was born to Frank and Minnie Andree Ritzschke on August 17, 1890,
on a farm near Centerville where she grew up and attended school. She married
James R. Jaekel and 1909 and had five children. One died in infancy.
She spent her entire life in Klickitat County living
on their Centerville ranch until they retired and moved to Goldendale. Mrs.
Jaekel was an active and loyal member of the Neighbors of Woodcraft Lodge
and Thimble Club in Centerville. She was a most energetic woman and especially
enjoyed flowers and working in her yard.
In 1976 she won the achievement award and plaque for
having the most outstanding and attractive yard in Goldendale. She was a
devoted mother, grandmother, and friend.
Preceding her in death were her husband and daughter
Evelyn Crow.
She is survived by children Quinton Jaekel and Edna Tobin
of Centerville and Lois Hase of Portland; sisters, Ilene Spencer of Portland
and Minnie Strahl of The Dalles; nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren;
six great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 22 in the
Knosher-Erdman Funeral Home. Mel Huckins of the Centerville Church of Christ
officiated and interment was in the Centerville Cemetery.
