LAST RITES HELD FOR FORMER SPAR
LYLE - (Special) -- Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Stump
Smith, who died in New York, were held in the church at Lyle Sunday afternoon
at two o'clock. Since Mrs. Smith had served with the SPARS during the war,
military funeral services were given, with the American Legion in charge.
Mrs. Smith was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stump
and had lived in Lyle much of the time during her girlhood days. She was
34 years of age and the body was accompanied from New York by her husband,
Charles Smith.
A large crowd of friends attended the services and the
interment in Balch cemetery at Lyle. The sympathy of the community was expressed
to the family for their loss.
