SERVICES SATURDAY FOR E.W. BASSE
Services were held at Knosher Funeral Home Saturday,
August 5, 1967, for Ernest W. (Murph) Basse, lifelong resident of the Centerville
area. He died at Klickitat Valley Hospital following a heart attack early
on the morning of August 3.
Mr. Basse was widely known throughout Eastern Klickitat
county, for as an employee of Archie W. Averill and Shell Oil Co. he had
served a large part of the population of that region over a period of 26
years. His deliveries of petroleum fuels were made to the remotest ranch
sites in the same fair o' foul weather as to the close-at-hand city fuel
tanks.
He also was well known as a prime organizer and chief
of the Centerville Rural Fire District, and for participation in other activities
in his home community.
Interment was at the Centerville Cemetery. Obituary in
this issue.
