FLOYD A. BAKER
White Salmon resident Floyd Avalon Baker died Thursday,
Nov. 19, at Providence Medical Center in Portland, Ore., following a brief
illness. He was 54.
He was born Sept. 18, 1933 in Wagoner, Okla. He lived
in Oklahoma until age 16, then worked on pipelines all over the Midwest.
Mr. Baker came to White Salmon in 1952, and on April 9, 1955, he married
Ann M. Blevins. He worked for Bingen Plywood for 13 years, ran the Snowden
mail route for a time and worked in the woods until an injury forces him
to retire. He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and loved to hunt and fish and
converse with people.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Ann of White Salmon;
parents Ethel and Roy Bruce of Bingen; children Hope Stencil of White Salmon,
Rick Baker of Prosser; granddaughter Heather of White Salmon; sister Lois
Hardy of White Salmon; brother Ronnie Bruce of Bingen; two half brothers
and two half sisters; and numerous loved ones and friends.
Services for Mr. Baker were held Sunday, Nov. 22, in
the chapel of Gardner Funeral Home, White Salmon. Mr. Dave Brown officiated.
Interment followed in the Balch Cemetery, Lyle. Gardner Funeral Home was
in charge of arrangements. Sympathy may be shown
to the family by doing an act of kindness for an elderly person.
