FRANK HAYES DIES MONDAY AS RESULT OF RAIL ACCIDENT

Frank Hayes, 40, a resident of Wishram for almost 35 years and an employee of the S.P.& S. railroad was fatally injured Saturday night, September 17, when the speeder he was riding crashed into the back end of a freight train at the west end of the Wishram railroad yards. He died at Goldendale General Hospital on Monday, September 19.
According to reports, Hayes was following the Oregon Trunk Local into Wishram just before midnight, and shortly after the train had been halted, ran into the caboose, the speeder plowing under the back of the car.
The speeder, which was apparently traveling at a considerable rate, was badly smashed and it was reported that only one head light was all that remained intact.
Funeral services will be held from the Holy Trinity Church in Goldendale Friday morning, September 23 at 9:00 a.m. with the Rev. Rather Skehan officiating.
Hayes is survived by his mother, Mrs. Francis Hayes, of Wishram, four brothers and three sisters.
