FRANK MILLER IS CALLED

Well Known Bingen Resident Dies Saturday Night

BORN IN OHIO

He Spent Last Eight Years of His Life In Poor Health

 

     BINGEN, Wash., Sept. 26  -- Frank Elmer Miller passed away the home of Mrs. Mae Orton, at Lyle, Saturday night, at 11:15 P. M., at the age of 69 years, five months and 17 days. He was born in Trumbull County, Ohio, and was the son of Monroe Lawson Miller and Sarah Hunt Miller. At the age of three years the family moved to Iowa, where they lived till he was seven years of age. They then moved to Southern Minnesota and resided there until 1902, when they moved to Portland, Ore. In 1906 he homesteaded near Laurel and had lived In this county ever since. He was married to Clara Schmidt in 1892. A baby girl was born in 1900 and named Grace. They were divorced in 1901. In Feb. 1903 he was married to Anna Sophia Elfring and to this union a son Charles Franklin was born in 1904. Charles' mother died while he was just a child. For about the last eight years Mr. Miller had been in very poor health and his son has taken care of him. The last few years the two of them have lived In Bingen, where for a while Mr. Miller had a broom factory. Three sisters survived him; Mrs. B.F. Young, of Worthington, Minn.; Mrs. B. L. Columbus, of San Francisco and Mrs. Grace Walker, of Glendora, California; an older brother, Thomas A. died in 1929. The funeral services were held at the Bingen Church, Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 3:00, with Rev. Alfred Derby conducting the services. Music furnished by Mrs. Derby and Naomi Davenport. He was buried at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery of White Salmon.
