FLORENCE G. JACKEL
Florence G. Jackel was born at Bay City, Mi., April 15,
1886. She came as an infant with her parents, Joseph and Josephine Dashney,
to Klickitat county, where the family resided until moving to The Dalles
in 1903. She died December 14, 1972 following an acute illness of one week.
She was united in marriage to Joseph G. Baker in 1910.
One daughter, Zilda, was born to this union. Following Mr. Baker's death
in 1913 Florence entered The Dalles Hospital Training School for Nurses and
was graduated in 1917. She followed her profession in The Dalles until her
marriage to August T. Jackel in 1922.
Mr. and Mrs. Jackel lived on farms in the Centerville
community until 1948, when they moved to Goldendale. During many of these
years it was her pleasure to serve friends and neighbors, using the nursing
skills she had acquired.
Survivors include her husband, August T. Jackel of Goldendale
and her daughter, Mrs. John H. Jaekel, Pullman. Mr. and Mrs. Jackel celebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary last June 25 with a host of friends in attendance.
The Rosary of Christian Hope, directed by Fr. John
Marasciulo, was recited Sunday evening. The funeral was held at Holy Trinity
Catholic Church Monday, with Fr. Raymond Mueller officiating. Interment was
at Centerville Grange Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harold Eshelman, Lyle Tobin,
Henry Miller, Howard Masters, Jack Davenport and Wayne Hoctor.
