FREDERICK H. ANDERSON
Frederick Herman Anderson, the son of Peter and Lena
Anderson, was born December 26, 1879, at Santa Rosa, Calif. He died Saturday,
November 9, 1963, at North Bonneville, following a long illness.
When he was about five years old the family moved to
Klickitat County and settled in Pleasant Valley. He was educated in the local
schools.
He married Rebecca Garner, of Centerville, on November
9, 1908, who preceded him in death in 1928.
For several years he farmed near Centerville. After that,
except for a short period of time, for nearly 40 years he served as County
Assessor and Treasurer, or as a deputy in various offices of Klickitat County.
Mr. Anderson liked people and made many friends. He was
a man of convictions and he had the courage of his convictions. He took an
active part in organizing and building up the Goldendale Golf Club. Following
the death of their mother, he devoted to himself to his two sons and their
playmates. He was fond of children and his home was open to his boys and
their friends. His car was often loaded with boys whom he took to the swimming
pool and Blockhouse.
For years he was a member of the Grange and he was also
an active member of the Goldendale Lodge No. 31 in F&AM, the Royal Arch,
Commandery and the Evergreen Chapter No. 1 order of the Eastern Star.
He is survived by his two sons, Frederick G. of Westfield,
N.J., and Robert E. of Portland, Ore.; and also by one sister, Mrs. Emma
Short of Goldendale.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 12 at 2
p.m. at Knosher Funeral Home in Goldendale, with Rev. W.N. Byars officiating.
Interment was at Centerville Grange Cemetery.
