FORMER LYLE MAN'S BURIAL AT BALCH
Fred J. Tanner, of Foster, Oregon passed away at the
Skyline Hospital in White Salmon on Monday, August 4th at the age of 83 years,
11 months and 15 days. He was born at Dorsit, Ohio in 1874. At an early age
he went from Ohio to Chase, Michigan where he met and married Bessie E. Barnhart
in 1900, who preceded him in death in 1937.
In 1906 with his wife and two daughters he moved from
Michigan to Seattle. After spending several years in Oregon and Washington
he moved with his family in 1928 to Lyle, where he lived until 1943, when
he married Mrs. Florence Cox and moved to Hermiston, Oregon, later moving
to Foster, Oregon, where he resided until shortly before his death.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Florence Tanner of
Foster, Oregon. A daughter, Alice Ware of Port Angeles, Washington. Three
sons, George and Frank of Lyle, and Earl of San Jose, California. Two daughters,
Helen Gladys Hess and Ella Mae Bee proceeded him in death. One half sister,
Cora Dunks of Chase, Michigan. Eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He spent most of his working life in logging and saw
mill business.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the
Lyle Community church with burial at the Balch cemetery in Lyle. Rev. Bessant
will officiate.
Pall bearers are: Frank Tanner, Lyle; George Tanner,
Lyle; Ira Ware, Port Angeles; Carlton Bee, Sr., Tacoma; Carlton Bee Jr.,
Tacoma; Richard Bee, Tacoma.

RITES HELD FOR FRED J. TANNER
Funeral services for Fred. J. Tanner, 84, Foster, were
held at 2 p.m. last Thursday, in the Lyle Community, Lyle, Wash. Burial was
in the Lyle cemetery. He died Monday, Aug. 4, in the White Salmon, Wash.,
hospital.
Tanner was born Aug. 20, 1874, in Dorsit, Ohio. He moved
from Hermiston to Foster three years ago.
Survivors include his widow, Florence, Foster; three
sons, Frank and George, of Lyle, Wash., and Earl, San Bernardino, Calif.;
one daughter, Mrs. Alice Ware, Port Angeles, Wash.; 11 grandchildren, and
five great grandchildren.

DEATH SUMMONS FRED J. TANNER
Funeral services for Fred J. Tanner, 83, Foster, Oregon,
will be held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Lyle Community Church.
Gardners are in charge of arrangements. The Rev. Besent of Lyle will officiate.
Burial will be in Balch cemetery.
Pall bearers are Frank and George Tanner, Ira Ware, Richard
Bee, Carlton Bee Jr., and Carlton Bee Sr.
Mr. Tanner was born August 20, 1874 at Dorset, Ohio,

DEATH COMES TO FRED J. TANNER
Fred J. Tanner, a resident of the Lyle area for many
years, passed away Monday at the Skyline Hospital in White Salmon. Mr. Tanner
had been a resident of Foster, Ore. for the past three years.
His survivors include his wife, Florence of Foster, one
daughter, Alice Ware of Port Angeles, three sons, George and Frank of Lyle
and Earl of San Jose, Calif.; a half-sister, Cora Dant of Chase, Mich., and
11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the
Lyle Community Church. Interment will be at the Balch Cemetery in Lyle.
