F.L. BELL PASSES TO THE BEYOND
F.L. Bell died at the Hood River hospital Monday following
an extended illness caused by stomach trouble. Mr. Bell homesteaded a tract
of land in the Locke Hill district some years ago and had made his home there
until his illness this summer when he came to town. He was well known here.
The funeral services were held in White Salmon Wednesday.
Deceased leaves a wife and two sons. One son came here
a month or so ago to care for his father. The widow and another son live
in Arizona on account of Mrs. Bell's health.

OBITUARY

Friend Lemon Bell was born June 26, 1847 near Freeland,
Porey county, Indiana. Died Nov. 28, 1921. He came west in the Fall of 1872.
Was married to Miss Alice Hunter, May 4, 1886. He is survived by his wife
and two sons; Mrs. Alice Bell, of Bisbee, Ariz.; Wendell P. Bell of Bisbee,
Ariz., and Virgil B. Bell of Diller, Nebraska.
Mr. Bell came to White Salmon in the fall of 1905 which
has been his home until his death. During his life Mr. Bell was engaged in
various enterprises in the Palouse country, principally the lumber business.
Was county commissioner of Latah county, Idaho for one term.
While working in a store at Palouse, Wash., he made up
of the first official mail that left Palouse post office and distributed
the first mail that came in.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church Wednesday
with burial at the I.O.O.F Cemetery.
