FREDA M. WARNEKE
Longtime resident Freda M. Warneke of White Salmon died
Thursday at Hood River. She was 87.
Mrs. Wanreke was born on July 16, 1904 in Holden, Mo.,
to Nellie M. (Surbaugh) and Jacob Lee Koch. After moving from Missouri to
Canada, Mrs. Warneke moved to White Salmon in 1922. She married Earl N. Warneke
in 1924.
Until her retirement in the late l960s, Mrs. Warneke
worked with her husband in his bakery and restaurant and subsequently the
clothing store. He preceded her in death in 1972, as well as a brother, Woodrow
C. Koch and sister Clara M. Koch Chappel.
Mrs. Warneke was a member of the Order of Eastern Star
and American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to garden.
She is survived by her sons, Don Warneke of White Salmon
and, Bob Warneke of White Salmon; brother, Howard Koch of White Salmon; six
grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at White Salmon Cemetery.
Family requests contributions be made to the Heart Fund.
