OBITUARY
Fred W. Shown was born in Nebraska, March 17, 1898, and
died October 17, 1918, leaving a father to mourn his loss, his mother having
died in 1905.
Fred was a young man of sterling worth. To know him was
to love him. He was a courteous gentleman, meeting his friend it with a glad
smile and merry heart. He was honest and truthful in all his dealings and
was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He imbibed the principles of
Christianity at his mother's knee. He was unassuming in manner, yet reflected
the nobleness of his character in all his associations with neighbors and
friends. An overseer of Spring Creek Grange, he will be greatly messed, for
he was punctual in attendance. He was also a member of the Woodmen, who will
miss him from their midst. He was laid to rest beside his mother in Spring
Creek Cemetery, services being conducted by Elder Adams.
