GEORGE A. THOMAS, OF THIS CITY, PASSES AWAY
George Allen Thomas, a pioneer of White Salmon, died
at his home Saturday, February 12th. He had been in failing health for several
months.
George Allen Thomas was born near Union Star, Missouri,
August 10, 1853, and that the age of 21 years moved to Ruiggold, Iowa, and
March 4th, 1877, was married to Rachael Cane; to this union six children
were born, of which five are living.
July 20, 1887, his wife Rachel Thomas died, and he was
remarried to Alice Wyram February 5, 1888, and to this union nine children
were born of which six are still living.
September 12, 1891, they removed to White Salmon with
his family, where he resided until his death. He died on February 12, 1941
at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 2 days.
He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Alice Thomas, and
the following children: -- A.I. Thomas of Yamhill, Ore.; R.O. Thomas of Elton,
Ore.; Mrs. C.W. McFarland of Kelso, Wash.; Mrs. Veda Armstrong of Forest
Grove, Ore.; Mrs. Rachael Carlson of Oakland, Calif.; Otto Thomas, White
Salmon; Mrs. Z.A. Barker, San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Urchie Cashdollar, Seattle;
Dewey Thomas, White Salmon; Artie Thomas, Oregon City, Ore.; and Miss Geogie
Thomas, White Salmon. There are also 16 grandchildren living; besides a sister
Mrs. Mary Higgens, of Union Storm, Mo.; and a brother, F.L. Thomas of Zelma,
Calif.
