GLEN DALE "PAT' KIGHT
Glen Dale "Pat" Kight of White Salmon died Friday, January
31, 1994 at Skyline Hospital; he was 71. He was born on October 15, 1922
in Raymond to Nina M. (Pace) and Benjamin R. Kight.
At the age of five Mr. Kight moved to Lyle with his parents,
two years later his family moved to White Salmon.
Mr. Kight enlisted and served in the U.S. Army. After
discharge he returned to the area to many Elizabeth L. Moore in 1946. He
worked for the Broughton Lumber Company until his retirement in 1981.
He was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed camping,
traveling, wood-working and furniture making.
Through the years Mr. Kight was an active member of the
White Salmon community. He was in-volved in swimming lessons at the public
pool and was instrumental in getting the tennis courts and the city park
built. Mr. Kight also served White Salmon for two terms on the city council
during the 1960s and on the city planning commission.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stan, who died in
1973.
He is survived by his wife Beth of White Salmon; his
daughters Linda Garrett of Portland, and Peggy VerMaas of Beaverton; his
brothers Howard Kight of White Salmon, and Marion Kight of Rio Dell, Calif.;
his sister Margray Stark of Moses Lake; and his grandchildren Adrian and
Patrick VerMaas of Beaverton.
Funeral Services were held for Mr. Kight on Saturday,
January 5, at the Gardner Funeral Moans with pastor Al Solomon officiating.
The Gardner Funeral Home was in charge of all the funeral arrangements.
The family suggests contributions in Mr. Kight's name
be given to the Skyline Foundation c/o Skyline Hospital.
