MILITARY RITES SET FOR G. HOGE
Gilbert Elisha Hoge, died at the Veteran's hospital in
Roseburg, Oregon October 19 after four days confinement there.
His body was shipped Wednesday to the Gardner Funeral
Home in White Salmon for care and burial will be made Monday at 2 p.m. at
the Spring Creek cemetery near Goldendale.
Military rites for Hoge, a veteran of World War I, will
be accorded by the Louis Leidl post of the American Legion at the cemetery,
Ez. Kaiser stated.
Survivors of the deceased are one brother, Elbert Hoge
White Salmon; two sisters, Nora Briddle of Hood River, and Mrs. W.J. Erp
of Valley Forge, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.
Hoge was born at Ancona, Illinois April 19, 1894, the
son of Spencer and Leora Hoge. His parents were laid to rest at the Spring
Creek burial ground.
Hoge had lived at Roseburg for the past 23 years. His
parents are remembered by many old time settlers of this area.

GILBERT HODGE, 58, SUCCUMBS HERE SUNDAY
Gilbert Hodge, 58, died Sunday after a short illness
in a Roseburg hospital. He was born April 19, 1894 in Anacona, Ill., and
had been a resident of this community for many years. He was a veteran of
World War I.
Surviving are a brother, Albert Hodge, White Salmon,
Wash.; a sister, Mrs. William Arp, Walleyford, Wash.; and several nieces
and nephews in Drain.
The body was shipped by the Roseburg Funeral Home to
White Salmon Wash., for funeral service. Interment will be held in the Spring
Creek Cemetery in Golden Dale, Wash.
