GEO. E. CARTER
Retired Newspaper Man Dies Suddenly At Husum

George E. Carter, 75 years of age, well known newspaper publisher, passed away suddenly Tuesday morning of heart trouble at the home of his brother, F.T. Carter, north of Husum. The funeral was held yesterday at Gardner's Funeral chapel in White Salmon and the remains laid to rest in the Odd Fellows cemetery here.
George E. Carter was born in New London, Wisconsin, in 1860 and came to Husum with his brother in 1908, remaining there for about six years, until he went to Crane, Oregon, and established the Crane American which he published for nearly 20 years. He sold the publication and his printing office last year, retiring and returning to Husum to make his home with his brother. Last summer he visited a sister Mrs. Gates, of Custer City, South Dakota.
He is survived by a daughter living in the Hawaiian Islands, two brothers, F.T. Carter of Husum, S.G. Carter of Boston, Mass., two sisters: Mrs. Gates of Custer City, S.D., and Miss B.M. Carter of Seattle.
