G. WELLENBROCK SERVICES HELD IN GLENWOOD
George Wellenbrock was born October 25, 1888 at Glenwood,
Washington, the son of Louise and Antone Wellenbrock. It was the following
year the Washington Territory became a State of the Union.
Mr. Wellenbrock passed away at the Klickitat Valley Hospital
in Goldendale on April 22, 1974 at the age of 85 years. In
Glenwood, Washington on September 24, 1916, he was united in marriage to
Sophie Kuhnhausen. To this union, six children were born. One son, Chester,
passed away June 26, 1962.
George was a member of the Glenwood Grange for almost
sixty years. He also served on the Glenwood School Board for a number of
years and was active in many other civic organizations. He was always ready
and willing to help his many neighbors and friends in times of need during
his 85 years as a resident of Glenwood Valley.
Surviving him are: his wife, Sophie, of Glenwood, Washington;
two sons: Arnold of Brookings, Oregon; and Harold of Glenwood, Wa.; three
daughters: Sadie Jackson of Hayward, California; Lela Ward of Glenwood,
Washington; and Florence Darnell of Brookings, Oregon. There are fifteen
grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Three sisters: Bertha Fraiser
of Seattle, Wa.; Louise McKinney of Salinas, California; and Anna Carlock
of White Salmon also survive. There are also many nieces and nephews and
friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 24, at 2:00
p.m. at the Glenwood Pioneer Community Church. Interment was in the Mt. Adams
Cemetery at Glenwood, Washington. The Rev. Glen Bolch of Vancouver, Washington
officiated at the services.
Casket Bearers were: Arnold Wellenbrock, Jr., Howard
Wellenbrock, David Wellenbrock, Dwayne Darnell, Dean Jackson, and Dennis
Ward.

George Wellenbrock, Glenwood pioneer who was born there
in 1888, died April 22, 1974 at Klickitat Valley Hospital in Goldendale.
He was 85.
In 1916 he was married to Sophie Kuhnhausen in Glenwood.
Mr. Wellenbrock is survived by his widow and five children: Arnold of Brookings,
Harold of Glenwood, Sadie Jackson of Hayward, Cal., Lela Ward of Glenwood,
and Florence Darnell of Brookings. A son Chester died in 1962.
He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 6 great
grandchildren, and sisters Bertha Fraiser of Seattle, Louise McKinney of
Salinas, Cal., and Anna Carlock of White Salmon.
He was a member of Glenwood Grange for nearly 60 years,
and of the school board and other civic organizations.
Services were held Wednesday at the Glenwood Pioneer
Community Church with the Rev. Glen Bolch of Vancouver officiating. Gardner
Funeral Home in White Salmon was in charge of arrangements. Burial was at
Mt. Adams Cemetery.
