GEORGE F. LYON
Graveside services for George Franklin Lyons of Klickitat
who died of AIDS Saturday, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lyle Balch Cemetery.
He was 33.
Mr. Lyon was born Aug. 23, 1959 in White Salmon to Floydene
(Peterson) and John G. Lyon. He began grade school at Dallesport and graduated
from Klickitat High School in 1978. During high school, he was active in
track and a dedicated member of the high school yearbook staff.
He attended Spokane Community College in Spokane. He
served for four years in the U.S. Navy. He was later employed as a sawmill
worker, bartender and cook before his health was undermined by the AIDS virus.
His desire for life and learning didn't diminish with
the progression of his illness. Even after he couldn't work, he tried to
go back to school.
He had many passions in life, among them were Ford
automobiles and a zest for cooking, music and a love for animals.
He is survived by his parents, John and Floydene of
Klickitat; sisters, JoDean Courtway of Fort Scott, Kan., Kathy Brashers of
North Bonneville, and Mary Hoagland of Beaverton; brothers, Jamie Lyon of
Everett, and Steven Lyon of John Day, Ore.; grandmothers, Catherine Peterson
of Walla Walla and Jennie Francey of Snohomish; 12 nieces and nephews.
Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
