RITES SCHEDULED FOR G.G. SAXTON
Funeral services for George Grant Saxton, pioneer resident
of this area, were held Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Edwin
B. Towle in charge, and interment was made in the Pleasant Valley cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Herman Stump, Gerald Fenton, Harold Dingmon, William Anderson,
C. F. Schuster and Gus Trumbo.
Saxton was born November 9, 1867 near Oregon City, Oregon.
He died December 8 in Seattle. He came to Klickitat County with his, parents
as a small boy and joined the Methodist church at about the age of 23.
He was married to Emma M. Lusby December 5, 1889. After
their marriage they took up a homestead ten miles east of Goldendale where
they engaged in farming until June 1951 when they moved to Seattle to live
with their son John.
To their union were born six daughters and two sons.
Surviving are Ester Devine of Portland; Agnes Tyler of
Beaverton, Ore.; Eurnice Cahill of Rice, Wash.; Ruth Henderson of Hunter,
Wash.; John Saxton of Seattle and August Saxton of Goldendale. His wife and
two daughters, Myrtle and Hattie, preceded him in death.
