GERTRUDE L. BERGLUND

     Gertrude L. Berglund of Glenwood died Friday, January 21, 1994 in Hood River; she was 89.
     She was born in Elgin, Ore. on May 5, 1904 to Grace (Turner) and Oscar Garner.
     Mrs. Berglund went to school in LaGrande and later moved to Yakima. She attended Central Washington University in Ellensburg where she earned her teaching certificate.
     In 1931 Mrs. Berglund married her husband of 58 years, Albin. Together the couple moved to Glenwood where she continued to teach for many years, retiring in 1951. She enjoyed reading and loved her Glenwood home.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Albin who died in 1989.
     She is survived by her sons Al of Entiat and Don of Seattle; her sister-in-law Ellen Garner of Yakima; and her brothers and sisters-in-law Mel and Carol Berglund of White Salmon and Albert and Norma Wildhaber of Tacoma.
     The family suggests that contributions in Mrs. Berglund's name be given to the Hugo Johnson Scholarship c/o Glenwood Schools.
     Funeral services were held for Mrs. Berglund on Saturday, January 29, at the Gardner Funeral Home. The Rev. Sigmund Podlozny officiated the service.
     The Gardner Funeral Home was in charge of all the funeral arrangements.

GERTRUDE L. BERGLUND

     Gertrude L. Bergland, 89, of Glenwood died January 21, 1994 at Hood River, Ore.
     She was born May 19, 1904 in Elgin, Ore. to Grace (Turner) and Oscar Garner. She attended school in LaGrande, Ore., later enrolling at Central Washington University in Ellensburg where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught school in the local area, some in one-room schools. She taught school in Glenwood for many years before retiring in 1951.
     Gertrude married Albin I. Berglund in 1931; he died in 1989.
     She enjoyed reading and her home.
     Survivors include two sons, Al Berglund of Entiat, Wash., and Don Berglund of Seattle; her sister-in-law, Ellen Garner of Yakima; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mel and Caroll Bergland of White Salmon, and Albert and Norma Wildhaber of Tacoma.
     Funeral services were held Jan. 29 at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with the Rev. Sigmund Podlozny officiating the service. She was buried at Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood.
     Contributions may be given to Hugo Johnson Scholarship c/o Glenwood Schools.
