GLADYS LADIGES
Gladys Ladiges, 92, of Glenwood, died March 2, 2000 at
Garden Village in Yakima.
Gladys was born Sept. 22, 1907 in Nebraska to Mr. and
Mrs. Brunick.
She was raised and educated in Nebraska. After completing
her education, Gladys began working on the family farm. She remained at home
for about 10 years, when she moved to Portland, Ore. While there, she went
to work in the shipyards as a welder. Gladys met Cecil Lillie who became
her first husband. He died in 1947. Gladys moved to Glenwood in 1948, where
she took a position as a cook for Walter Ladiges. Gladys and Walter were
married in 1962.
Gladys enjoyed quilting and baking. Her family always
looked forward to being able to eat her wonderful bread, cinnamon rolls,
maple bars and dinner rolls.
Her first husband, Cecil Lillie; second husband, Walter
Ladiges, four brothers and sisters; a grandson, Michael Wallin; and two infant
grandchildren preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara Taggart and husband,
Jim of Ranier, Ore., Lorraine Burnham and husband, Lyle, of Portland, Ore.,
Sylvia Behrends of Olympia and Ruby McKinney and husband, Alan, of Yakima;
18 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held March 8 at the Mt. Adams Community
Church in Glenwood. Burial was in the Mt. Adams Cemetery.
