GAYLE LUCILLE LOCKE
Gayle Lucille Locke of Husum died on Sunday, Dec.31,
at Skyline Hospital; she was 72.
She was born on April 20, 1921 in Wheaton, Minn. to Blanche
(McNett) and Ralph Dodds.
She moved to Cody, Wyo. as a young child where she completed
high school. She received her nurse's training at St. Vincent's Hospital
in Billings, Mont. graduating in 1942. Her family moved to Washougal during
the war years where she worked for Permanente Hospital. In 1943, while still
living in Washougal she met and married her husband of 50 years.
Together the couple lived in the Vancouver area before
moving to the White Salmon area in 1947.
Mrs. Locke assisted the county health nurse for many
years and was a member of the Mt. View Grange. She loved to crochet, sew
and garden She also enjoyed travelling - especially to the coast.
She was preceded in death by her sister Edith Jones of
Silverton, and her parents.
She is survived by her husband Mel of Husum, her daughters
Gloria Cook of Sandpoint, Idaho and Linda Henson of East Wenatchee; her son
William of Husum; her sisters Doris Grimes of Fairmount, N.D., Ileen Brittan
of Silverton, Ore, and Gloria (skip) Dodds also of Silverton. She had 5
grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
The family suggests that contributions in Mrs. Locke's
name be given to the Skyline Foundation c/o Skyline Hospital.
Funeral Services were held Monday, Jan. 3 at the Gardner
Funeral Home. Mrs. Grace Couls officiating the service.
The Gardner Funeral Home was in charge of all the
arrangements.
