MRS. FRED SCHMIDT PASSES AWAY
Mrs. Fred Schmidt, of Trout Lake died at the St. Vincent
hospital in Portland Wednesday night, August 11th. She had been in the hospital
eight weeks, suffering from a goitre and complications which caused her death.
Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. C. Jennings, of this
city.
Grace Jennings was born in Lafayette, Ohio, on March
26, 1902, and came west when a baby with her parents, and had lived in White
Salmon and Trout Lake for the past 19 years. In February 1918, she was married
to Fred Schmidt, a rancher of Trout Lake. Deceased leaves a husband and an
eight-months' old baby girl, to mourn her loss, besides her parents and brother,
George, and a host of friends.
The funeral was held at the Jennings' home in this city
this morning at 11 o'clock, with burial in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in North
White Salmon. The funeral was largely attended by local people and a large
number friends and former neighbors came down from Trout Lake Valley to pay
their parting respects to their departed friend.
The family have the sympathy of the whole community in
their bereavement.
