GLADYS DARLING
Gladys Darling, longtime pianist for the Hit and Miss
senior citizens band, died Wednesday at the age of 80. A funeral will be
held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Bateman Funeral Chapel.
She was born July 28, 1901 in Glenwood, Wash., the eldest
child of Peter and Josie Troh. Her brother was Henry Troh, owner of Troh's
airport.
She moved to this area after he marriage which ended
in divorce. Though she had no children, she raised six foster children. She
also ran a restaurant at her brother's airport.
She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Grange for 38
years and served as musician for the grange and for the Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by a brother, Norman Troh of Glenwood,
Wash., one sister, Frieda McGhee of White Salmon, Wash.

GIADYS MARIE DARLING
Gladys Marie Darling passed away Sept. l6 in Boring,
Ore. She was 80.
Mrs. Darling was born July 28. 1901, at Glenwood to Peter
and Josie Troh. Her school days were spent in Glenwood, where she married
and moved to Portland to make her home.
Not being blessed with children of her own, she gave
love, home and an opportunity to attend school to six foster children.
Mrs. Darling was a member of the Pleasant Valley Grange
and a musician for the Grange, Pomona and Rebecka Lodge for many years. She
was the instigator of the Hit and Miss Band, composed of senior citizens.
She is survived by one brother, Norman Troh, Glenwood,
and one sister Freda McGee, WhiteSalmon.
