GARRY BENJAMIN
Garry Rudolph Orn "Rudy" Benjamin, a former BZ Comers
resident, died on Feb. 4, 2001, at his home in McMinnville, Ore., where he
had lived the past three years.
Mr. Benjamin was born on March 11, 1940 in Emo, Ontario,
Canada, to Kathe Olida (Olson) and Harry Millord Benjamin. He moved with
his family to the United States in 1942. After moving a number of times,
the family settled in Denver, Colo. in 1950. As a teenager he traveled through
Montana, Colorado and Wyoming as a one man band. In 1966, he moved to San
Francisco. Calif., and in 1974 he settled in BZ Comers.
Mr. Benjamin spent a short time in the Navy in the early
1970s. He worked for Northwest Telecom as a cable and telephone equipment
installer and traveled to many places around the world - Japan, Puerto Rico,
Los Angeles and San Francisco.
He enjoyed playing the harmonica, woodcarving, cars,
reading westerns and sci-fi. He also loved rafting, dancing and playing with
his grandchildren.
Mr. Benjamin is survived by his wife Joyce Benjamin,
BZ Corners., sons Randy and Jason, McMinnville, Ore., Gene, Colorado and
William Brader; daughter Dorie Kay, Colorado; sisters Faye Hill and LeLane
Westby, BZ Corners, and Jody Ensminger; and five grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by brothers Harvey and Kurt and sister Colletta Dixie Benjamin.
Services for Mr. Benjamin will be held on Monday. Feb.
12, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Gardner Chapel in White Salmon.
