GEO. CARTER OF HUSUM PASSES AWAY
Betty Jane Patrick Celebrates 11th Birthday Sunday; Little Friends Help

HUSUM -- (Special to The News) George Carter resident of this place for many years, passed away July 29th at his home after being ill for some time. He leaves his widow and one child, Elizabeth, besides other relatives and a host of friends.

     George W. Carter, well known Husum resident, passed away at his home at the age of 62 years, Monday of last week. He was born in Indiana and spent his boyhood in Hood River and Wamic, Ore., going to Husum in 1902, where he purchased 320 acres of land. He developed a fine 53 acre orchard, besides having 35 acres planted to alfalfa. He also built the Husum hotel. He was married to Daisy Pickett in 1910. For the past four years he had been in ill health. He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Elizabeth, and a sister living in Ryderville, Washington. The funeral was held Wednesday in the White Salmon Methodist church.
