GRANT WORTHEN SERVICES HELD DECEMBER 4TH

     Grant W. Worthen passed away at his home in Murdock, Washington November 29th at the age of 53 years. He was born to Frank and Cora Worthen in Tabiona, Utah, September 8, 1920.
     He was married to Barbara Jane Bush October 21, 1940 in Glendale, California. They moved to their home on Star Route, Lyle eight years ago.
     He has worked for himself as a farmer, carpenter and rental owner.
     He is survived by his wife: Barbara Jane Worthen of Lyle, Washington; One daughter: Gayle Moore of Walla Walla, Washington; Two sons: Del and Leo Worthen of Lyle, Washington; Four brothers: Don, Frank, Gene and Warren Worthen all of Utah; and Four sisters: Josephine Struthers, Dorothy Brown and LaDene Griswald, all of California; and Beth Carr of Dallesport, Washington.
     Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 4th, at 1:30 p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in White Salmon, Washington.
     Interment was in the Lyle, Washington Cemetery.
     Pastor Arthur Davy officiated at the services.

GRANT WORTHEN PASSES AWAY NOVEMBER 29TH

     Grant Woodrow Worthen, the eighth child of Cora and Frank Worthen was born on September 8, 1920 in Tabiona, Utah and passed away November 29, 1973 at his home.
     His first 16 years were spent in Magna, Utah on the family farm. The family then moved to Los Angeles, California. Here he finished his schooling and began a carpenter apprenticeship for the railroad.
     In October 1940 Grant was married to Barbara Jane Bush in Glendale, California. In 1942 they moved to Oregon where he worked in the shipyards until moving to a ranch in Appleton, Washington.
     The years 1945-46 saw him in the Army during World War II.
     For 25 years Appleton was his much loved home. In 1966 the family moved to the Murdock area where they have had rentals.
     Grant loved people and was always his happiest when able to give a helping hand to someone in need.
     He had been a member of the White Salmon Seventh-day Adventist Church since 1944.
     Besides his loving wife, Barbara, Grant is survived by his daughter, Gayle, and her husband, Floyd Moore; a son, Del Worthen, and his wife, Ethel; and his youngest son, Leo; a grandson, Robbie, and granddaughter, Shawna; his father-in-law, Leo Bush; his brothers; Don, Frank, Gene and Warren Worthen, all of Utah; his sisters: Josephine Struthers, Dorothy Brown, La Dene Griswald, of California, and Beth Carr of Dallesport, Washington; many nieces and nephews and his cherished friends and neighbors.
