STEVENS

     Harold A. Stevens, 71, died in Salem, Ore., Oct. 14. He was born in Goldendale June 14, 1911 to Alberta and Ida (Winterstein) Stevens.
     In 1932 he was married to Winnie Nordwell, and they had three children, with one daughter passing away at birth. During his time in Goldendale, Mr. Stevens was employed by the State of Washington Highway Department.
     In 1942 the family moved to Vancouver, where he was a Washington State Patrolman.
     In 1946 Mr. Stevens moved to Oregon, where he continued in law enforcement. He had lived for the past 25 years and at Monmouth, Ore., where he was chief of police until ill health forced him to retire. The last three years of his life he was confined to his home.
     He is survived by his widow, Bonita, at home; sons of Vern Stevens, Camas, Wa., and Mark Stevens, Vancouver; daughters Jo Ann Meyers, Bellevue, Neb., and Leah Rich, Homer, Ala.; brothers Afton Stevens, Milwaukee, Ore., and Eldon Stevens, Portland; and a sister, Mildred Randal, Goldendale.
     Mr. Stevens was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
     Graveside services were Oct. 16 at Spring Creek Cemetery, with Straub's Funeral Home, Camas, in charge of arrangements.

     MONMOUTH --Graveside services for Harold Alvin Stevens, 71, of 832 Bentley St., who died Thursday, will be at 2 p.m. today in Spring Creek Cemetery, Goldendale, Wash.
     Local arrangements are under direction of the Farnstrom mortuary, Independence.
     The family suggests contributions to the Monmouth Medic Units, in care of the Monmouth Fire Department.

     MONMOUTH - Harold Alvin Stevens, 71, of 832 Bentley St., died Thursday.
     Born in Goldendale, Wash., he had been a Washington State Police Officer before coming here, where he was Chief of Police until retiring in 1964 because of a disability.
     Survivors include wife, Bonnie; sons of Vern, Camas, Wash., and Mark, Vancouver, Wash.; daughters Leah Rich, Homer, Alaska, and Joann Myers, Bellevue, Neb.; brothers Afton, Milwaukee, and Eldon, Portland; sister, Mildred Randall, Goldendale, Wash.
     Services are pending at Straub mortuary, Camas, Wash. Local arrangements are under the direction of Farnstrom mortuary, Independence.
