TRUCK DRIVER KILLED

     A truck diver was killed in an accident early today along Highway 39.
     Hugh Allen Turner, 25, died when the truck and trailer rig he was driving went off the highway near Malone Road and struck a power pole.
     Oregon State Police said Turner had two addresses, one in Burns and one in Carson, Wash. Police were working at press time to determine Turners most recent address.
     Funeral arrangements will be announced by Ward's Klamath Funeral Home.
     The death is the third on Klamath County roadways this year compared to the same number at this time last year.

     Cremation services for Hugh Turner were held today, Mar. 8, 1983 at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial services will follow at a later date at White Salmon, Wash. Ward's Klamath Funeral Home in charge of the local arrangements.

TRUCK MISHAP IN KLAMATH FALLS CLAIMS LIFE OF HUGH TURNER

     Friends and former classmates of Hugh Allen Turner, a Stevenson High graduate, were shocked to learn of his death in a traffic accident near Klamath Falls, Oregon Monday, March 7. He was 24.
     He had been making his home in Bingen and was a truck driver for Ray Krall Trucking. According to reports, Mr. Turner was returning to the northwest from Texas with a load of produce and his truck left the road when he fell asleep. No other details were immediately available.
     He was born in Portland, Oregon December 7, 1957, the son of Frank L. and Carol Turner. He spent his school years in Skamania County where his father was employed with the Forest Service at the Wind River Ranger Station. He attended Carson Elementary, the Wind River Middle School and Stevenson High, where he was active in football, baseball and basketball.
     Upon graduation he worked in a mill at Burns, Oregon and later started driving for Ray Krall.
     He is survived by his parents, Frank Turner of White Salmon and Carol (Mrs. James) Peterson of Maupin, Oregon; brothers Eugene Turner of Gig Harbor, Washington, Ronald Turner of Underwood and Ray Turner of Bellingham; a sister Jana Lynn Turner of Maupin, Oregon; half-brother Joel and Nathan Turner of White Salmon; a step-brother, Larry Peterson, with the U.S. Navy at Jacksonville, Florida and a step-sister Felicia Martin of Wamic. Oregon; and grandparents Harry and Selma Turner of White Salmon and George A. Pearson of Husum.
     Memorial services were held at the First Baptist Church in Stevenson Wednesday, March 9 with the Rev. Jack Keith officiating. Plans for interment were pending.
