UNDERWOOD RESIDENT PASSES AWAY SATURDAY
Herman Bueche died of heart failure at Underwood last
Saturday after a short illness. Funeral services were held last Monday at
the Underwood Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Father Edwards of the Skamania
Klickitatt Catholic parish.
Mr. Bueche was unmarried and lived with relatives at
Underwood and part of the time at Washougal where a nephew is connected with
an automobile concern. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Hans Nelson and a
brother, Fred Bueche of Underwood and his relatives and Washougal.
He was born in Sluehlingen, Baden, Germany in 1868 and
came to America in 1883 where he located at Canal Dover, Ohio, later moving
to Oregon with his parents.
He attended school and Germany and high school in
Switzerland. Later he studied civil engineering under the noted engineer,
R.H. Habersham, a celebrated Brazilian engineer and the Surveyor General
of Oregon. He held several responsible positions. He was also a mining engineer
later in life.
He was a county engineer of this county for two terms,
being elected in 1914, and served with honor and dignity.
Following the funeral services by Father Edwards, Rev.
Rominger also spoke a few words of appreciation in behalf of Mr. Bueche's
many friends and neighbors.
