HARRY D. STIGERS INTERRED AT LYLE
LYLE (Special) -- Military funeral services were held
Friday afternoon at the Lyle gymnasium for Harry Daniel Stigers, 28, World
War 2 veteran, who died June 6 at Portland. Gardner's Funeral Home of White
Salmon was in charge and the officiating minister was the Rev. George P.
George. Interment was at the Lyle Balch cemetery. Pallbearers were James
Curl, Keith West, Ormond Dean, Leroy Hewett, Keith Palmer and Billie Cody.
Harry was born September 24, 1925 at Port Angeles. He
came to Klickitat county when he was four years of age. He lived here until
he joined the Marines in 1943, and fought with the famed 28th Regiment, fifth
Marine division, which put the flag on Mt. Surabachi on the island of Iwo
Jima. He went to Japan with the occupational forces and returned to Lyle
after the war and lived there until five years ago, when he moved to Eugene,
Oregon.
He leaves to mourn his loss his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Hess of Lyle; two children, Caroline Marie and Larry Daniel Stigers of
Eugene, Oregon; his grandfather, Fred Tanner of Hermiston, Oregon; one aunt,
Mrs. Ira Ware of Port Angeles; and three uncles, George and Frank Tanner
of Lyle and Earl Tanner of Puento, California; eleven cousins and a host
of friends.

Harry Daniel Stigers was born September 24, 1924 at Port
Angeles, Washington. Died June 6, 1954 at a hospital in Portland as a result
on injuries suffered in a plywood mill accident at Myrtle Creek, Oregon several
weeks ago. Gardner's are making arrangements for a service Friday afternoon,
2:00 p.m. at the Lyle Gymnasium. Rev. George P. George officiating.
Mr. Stigers leaves to mourn his passing his mother, Mrs.
Ray Hess of Lyle and 2 children Carolyn Marie and Larry Daniel.
Interment will be at Balch cemetery, Lyle, Washington.

HARRY STIGERS OF LYLE DIES
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 11, in the Lyle gym for Harry Daniel Stigers, 28, of Lyle. He died late Sunday, June 6, in Good Samaritan hospital, Portland for injuries sustained in an accident in the plywood plant at Myrtle Creek, Ore., May 19. Burial will be at Balch cemetery near Lyle. He is survived by his father, Wm. D. Stigers, address unknown; his mother, Mrs. Ray Hess of Lyle; and two children, Carolyn Marie and Larry Daniel.
