BINGEN MAN DIES AT 85
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 8, at 10:30
a.m. in Gardner's Funeral Chapel at White Salmon for Henry Henningsen, 85,
of Bingen. He died November 2 at Skyline Hospital in White Salmon, where
he had been a patient since September 20. Rev. William Newkirk will officiate
and burial will be at Glenwood in the family plot beside his parents, brother,
Willie and two uncles, George and Peter Tams.
Mr. Henningsen was born Oct. 30, 1883 at Glenwood. His
brother, Adolph, is believed to be living at Susanville, Calif. 30, 1883
at Glenwood to hans and Katarina Tams Henningsen. The family moved to Oregon
in 1902, then he came back to Bingen and lived with his cousin, John Tams,
whose home was on the present site of the Lutheran Church. Prior to his
retirement he was a night watchman at a mill in Bingen.
He is survived by his brother, Adolph Henningsen in
Susanville, Calif.
Mr. Henningsen used to tell tales of his experiences
with the Indians when he was a youngster in Glenwood, and of the three wild
geese that acted as watchdogs for the family.
