HENRY HILKEY
Graveside services for Henry Hilkey, 76, of White Salmon,
Wash. will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2002 at White Salmon Cemetery, the
Rev. Jan Schiering officiating.
Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hilkey died in Hood River, Ore. on Thursday, Oct.
3. He was born on May 18, 1926 in Doris, Calif. to Howard and Florence Whipple
Hilkey. He grew up in Hood River, Ore. and White Salmon, Wash. He was a veteran
of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. On Sept. 21, 1946 he married
Sallie Skinner in Wilmington, N.C. After moving back to White Salmon, Mr.
Hilkey worked for Rees Stevenson. In 1971 they relocated to Alabama and worked
there in a sawmill until his retirement in 1982. Six years later they returned
to White Salmon. He attended the Baptist Church there.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife; his daughter, Sallie Ann
Bird of Salt Lake City, Utah; a brother, Robert Hilkey of Boise, Idaho; and
two sisters, Lillian of Redmond, Ore. and Dorothy Glover of Hood River, Ore.
