HETTIE NORA ANDERSON
Funeral services of the late Mrs. H.H. Stump were held
at Pleasant on Sept. 14, Rev. J.J. Hogan of Goldendale officiating. Rev.
Hogan said during the services:
Hettie Nora Anderson was born at Pleasant Valley, December
24th, 1891, to John and Nora Anderson and lived her life among you.
Hettie grew to womanhood in the midst of you, a kindly,
quiet dispositioned woman, loved by all and practically fond, herself, of
children and young people, who in turn loved her for her kindliness.
Hettie was baptized into her Savior early in 1918, by
Bro. L.F. Clipp. Her anxiety over her spiritual welfare was very deep since
she became so ill, and her question was "I want to know if I shall be saved."
A most serious answer.
On July 30, 1917 Hettie was married to Herman H. Stump,
in Goldendale. They have made their home here ever since.
There are no children to this union born, yet she became
a mother to all children; thoughtful of them, pleasing them, and endearing
herself to their friendship. He who makes friends with a child is nearest
to God's children, for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
Sister Stump became ill a few months ago, seeking medical
aid for relief and health, but it seemed not hers to enjoy. She kept slipping
away from earth and loved ones a little by little, until the mercy of God
removed her from corroding earth in Christian peace. September 11th she slipped
away to eternity, leaving to mourn her untimely departure a truly devoted
husband, a grieving father and a step-mother, two brothers and three sisters,
nieces, brethren in Christ, and many friends.
One brother, Fred, of Caldwell, Idaho, is not present,
but spent several days at her bedside recently when they could enjoy each
other's presence. Mrs. Mabel Sanstrum, Mrs. Frank Riley, William Anderson,
Mrs. Edna Trumbo and their families are present today
