FINAL RITES FOR HANNAH MARKGRAF IN GLENWOOD ON AUGUST 7TH
Hannah (Hattie) Isbell Markgraf, former resident of Glenwood,
Washington, passed away in Oakland, California on August 3rd at the age of
90 years.
She was born December 26th, 1883 in Roanoak, Virginia
to Hiram and Louisa Hylton. In a country chapel near Roanoak, she was united
in marriage in 1908 to Gustav Albert Markgraf and he brought her to the Glenwood
Valley where they resided for two years.
They moved to the Sacremento Valley in 1910 where they
owned and operated a dairy until 1924 when they returned to Glenwood. Two
years later, they moved to Yakima and in 1942, they sold their farm and settled
in North Bonneville. Mr. Markgraf passed away in 1948 and she later returned
to Oakland to live with her daughter.
Surviving are her daughter: Irene Mahoney of Oakland,
California; a son, Rev. Gustav Karl Markgraf of Modesto, California; two
grandchildren John Karl Markgraf and Susan Foster Sannes: five
great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand
nephews.
Services were held in the Chapel of the Oaks in California
on August 5th. Memorial graveside services were on Wednesday, August 7th,
2 p.m. in the Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood, Washington with Rev. Karl Gustav
Markgraf officiating.

MARKGRAF SERVICES HELD AT GLENWOOD
Graveside services for hanna Markgraf were held Wednesday at the Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood at 2 p.m. Mrs. Markgraf died August 3 in Oakland, California. Her husband, Gustav, died in 1948.
