HARLAN JOHNSON
H. Kent Johnson died at his home in Murdock on July 20,
1997, at the age of 67.
Mr. Johnson was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Hood River, Ore.,
to Alice Mildred (Kent) and Victor Johnson. He was raised in the Lyle area
and graduated from high school there. He served in the Korean Conflict and
then returned to the Mid-Columbia area, where he lived in The Dalles and
Murdock-Lyle area. He married Joyce Anderson in 1954 and they had three sons.
He later married Dacia Hall in 1985. He worked for Cody Logging and was a
contract logger for other logging companies.
He was a member of The Dalles Country Club and loved
to golf. He was also a member of the Elks, Eagles and Moose lodges, as well
as Oregon Contract Loggers, Washington Contract Loggers, American Legion
and V.F.W.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Dacia, Murdock;
sons H. Wayne Johnson, The Dalles, Ore., and Kurt L. Johnson, Tygh Valley,
Ore.; sister Carroll Schuster, Sacremento, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, three
stepchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one
son, Bob Johnson, in 1958.
Graveside services were held July 23, 1997, at Lyle Balch
Cemetery.
