HENRY LEE BALSIGER
Henry Lee Balsiger, a longtime Mid-Columbia resident,
died Monday in The Dalles of complications from an auto accident, at the
age of 89.
Mr. Balsiger was born Jan. 20, 1899, in Highland, Ill.,
to Mary (Mala) and John J. Balsiger. He moved to the Mid-Columbia area in
1918 and married his wife, Pauline in 1935. He worked for Broughton Lumber
Company maintaining the flume. He also worked in agriculture and for SDS
until his retirement in 1965. His hobbies included fishing, gardening and
"tinkering".
Mr. Balsiger is survived by his wife, Pauline, White
Salmon; children, Joe Balsiger, White Salmon, Henry Balsiger Jr., Eden Prairie,
Minn., and Phyllis Bacon, Kent; step-son, Ray Hearn, White Salmon; brother,
Edward Balsiger, Richmond; sister, Marie Connelly, Palo Alto, Calif.; and
nine grand-children and five great grand-children.
Services for Mr. Balsiger will be held today (Thursday)
at 3 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home. Interment will be in the White Salmon
Cemetery.
