A funeral service for Herbert Leonard Chubb, 88, who died in Portland on May 5, 2005, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14 at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with interment at the Trout Lake Cemetery. HERBERT LEONARD CHUBB
Herbert Leonard Chubb, 88, died May 5, 2005, in
Portland.
He was born March 2,1917, in Canby, Ore., to Annie Mary
(Weingardner) and Roy Garfield Chubb. In 1931, he moved to Trout
Lake.
He married Willa Borthwick on Feb. 29, 1948. They lived
in Antelope, Ore., from 1945 until 1955. The couple divorced in 1964, and
Chubb married Vera Hickman on Oct. 3, 1970 in White Salmon. Chubb worked
as a logger, and also farmed in Trout Lake. He loved to work, and participated
in the first Glenwood Rodeo, winning a purse of $5. Always a family man,
he enjoyed being with his kids and grand-kids. He liked agriculture-related
events, such as county and state fairs, and berry picking.
A brother, Archie Chubb, sisters, Frances Howe and Meta
Schatz, and infant siblings, Harry and Nita, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Vera, of Goldendale; three
sons, Herbert Steven Chubb and Ran-dall Ross Chubb, both of Mill A, and Roy
Gary Chubb, of Goldendale; three daughters, Cindi Fielder, of Puyallup, Sharla
McConnell, of Spanaway, and Annie Mary Upton, of White Salmon; a step-daughter,
Loretta Mae Reams, of Virginia; a sister, Agnes Tethrow, of Portland; 18
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
