H.L. (LON) DOOLEY

     H.L. (Lon) Dooley was born in Sulphur, Indiana on March 4, 1883 and passed away on March 31, 1966 at the age of 83 years and 27 days.
     At the age of six years his parents and their six children moved into eastern Oregon. Six years later they came to the Centerville community where he spent the remainder of his life at farming.
     On November 1, 1903 he was married to Lillie Eshelman of Centerville. To this union eight children are born. The oldest son, Sherman, died at the age of two.
     Surviving are his wife, Lillie, six sons and one daughter, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one sister. The children are Paul and Frank of Goldendale; Alfred of Klamath Falls, Ore.; Earl of Prescott; Harvey and Riley of Centerville and Rosie Monahan of Windows, Calif., who is a twin of Riley. All brothers and sister preceded him in death except one sister, Lettie McPherson of Portland.
     He joined the Christian Church in Centerville in November of 1903 and has been a member of Centerville Grange for more than 25 years.
     Funeral services were held from Knosher Funeral parlors Monday, April 4, at 2 p.m. Pallbearers were Harold Eshelman, Wayne Eshelman, Clarence Kelly, Chester Niemela and Walter Kelly. Honorary pallbearers were John Proctor, William Proctor, August Jaekel Piper, Frank Garner, Max Maurer and Hugh Cameron.
     He was laid to rest in the Centerville Cemetery.
