LYLE PIONEER DIES AT GLENWOOD
Hallie Lyle was born at Lyle, Washington, June 28th,
1892 and passed away December 27th, 1948, at Glenwood, Washington.
She was 56 years and 6 months old, and spent almost all
of her life time in West Klickitat County. She was married to Andrew J. McGrath
on June 1st, 1916. Two children were born to them: Myrtle and Belva.
She was active in many community affairs, and a member
of the Glenwood Ladies Aid. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, Andrew
J. McGrath; her two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Kroiss of Colville, Washington,
and Mrs. Belva Hayden of Glenwood; six sisters, Mrs. Ruby Richardson of Colfax,
Washington, Mrs. Edna Huffman of Spokane, Washington, Mrs. Oro Pawell of
Creswell, Oregon, Mrs. Elsie Irwin of Longview, Washington, Mrs. Zelma Fullerton
and Mrs. Margaret Alford of Roseburg, Oregon.
Five brothers; Ben and Orval Lyle of Orient, Washington,
Earl Lyle of Arlington, Washington and George and Frank Lyle of Glenwood.
She leaves also several nieces and nephews and a great many friends.
Funeral services were held in Glenwood at the Community
Church 2 o'clock Thursday with Rev. George of the Methodist Church of White
Salmon officiating. Burial was in the Glenwood Grange Cemetery.

GLENWOOD PIONEER PASSES TUESDAY; SERVICES DEC. 29
GLENWOOD -- (Special) -- This community was shocked at
news of the death of Mrs. Andrew McGrath, 56-year-old pioneer resident of
this community, who died suddenly early Monday morning.
Funeral services will be held from the Glenwood church
at two o'clock Thursday, December 30, with Rev. George of the White Salmon
Methodist church officiating. Interment will be made in the Glenwood cemetery.
Gardner Funeral Service of White Salmon took charge of the remains of the
beloved pioneer.
The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George
B. Lyle and was born in the town of Lyle on June 28, 1892. the town of Lyle
is said to have been named in honor of her grandparents, who were among the
first settlers in that community.
Among the survivors are her husband, Andrew.
