MABEL SCHWINGE OF UNDERWOOD PASSES AT 75
Funeral services were held Wednesday for Mabel Schwinge,
a longtime resident of the Underwood area, who died Friday, May 25 at the
age of 75. She had been ill health for an extended period and succumbed at
Skyline Hospital in White Salmon.
Mrs. Schwinge was born October 5, 1908 in Bisbee, Arizona,
the daughter of Charles A. and Clara Walter Finley. She was christened Helen
Mabel but her family and friends knew her as Mabel during her lifetime. She
grew up in Oregon and moved to the Underwood area after graduation from high
school. She taught at Willard and other area schools before her marriage
to Amel F. Schwinge. They made their home in Underwood. Mr. Schwinge died
in 1968.
Mrs. Schwinge is survived by a daughter, Helen Jean Cuffel
of Long Beach, Washington; a son Jim Schwinge of Underwood and a sister Freda
Finley, also of Underwood. There are six grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at the pioneer Chris-Zada
Cemetery, Underwood, with the Rev. Jean Marie Wood officiating. Gardner's
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer
Society.

H. Mabel Schwinge, a longtime area resident, died Friday
at Skyline Hospital in White Salmon at the age of 73.
Mrs. Schwinge was born Octo. 5, 1908 in Bisbee, Ariz.,
to Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Finley. She grew up in Oregon and lived there
until she graduated from high school. After graduation she moved to
Underwood and lived there all her life. She was a former teacher.
She married her husband, Amel F. Schwinge, in Goldendale.
He preceded her in death in 1968.
She is survived by her daughter, H. Jean Cuffel, Long
Beach; a son, Jim Schwinge, Underwood; sister, Freda Finley, Underwood; and
six grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mrs. Schwinge were Wednesday at
2 p.m. at Chris-Zada Cemetery, Underwood, with the Rev. Jean Marie Wood
officiating. Gardner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
