HAROLD THOMAS
Harold S. Thomas Sr., of Husum, died May 10, 1998, at
skyline hospital in White Salmon, at the age of 58.
Mr. Thomas was born in Husum on March 13, 1940, to Sophie
Thomas and Harold Gross. He lived all his life in the Husum area, particularly
on the Rattlesnake Ridge. He worked as a woodcutter.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and fixing old cars. He was
a member of the Yakima Indian Nation.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his daughters Jareen Thomas,
Husum, and Coreen Thomas, Warm Springs, Ore.; sons Harold Jr., Warm Springs,
Ore., Theron, Dallesport, Jared and Corey, both of Warm Springs, Ore.;
half-brother Bill Gross, BZ Corners; sisters Isabell Thomas, Wapaot, Sally
Thomas, Husum, Patricia Bly, Bingen; brother Leonard Kuneki Sr., Bingen;
aunt Elsie Thomas, Bingen; as well as a nine grandchildren and numerous nieces
and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, mother, father,
one half-brother, daughter Sharold, two grandchildren and uncle Jones Thomas.
Washat services were held May 12, 1998, at 1 p.m. at
the Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon. Lindsey Howtopat Johnny Jackson
officiated.
After the dressing ceremony, he was taken to the family
home in Husum for overnight services. He left the family home at 9 a.m. May
13 for burial in the Indian Cemetery in Husum.
Gardner Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
