HILMER WILLIAM ERICKSON
Hilmer William Erickson died June 16, 1974 at the Klickitat
Valley Hospital in Goldendale after a long illness which kept him inactive
for almost two years. He was born the son of Albert and Bertha Erickson,
in Centerville on Sept. 16, 1903. A graduate of Central Washington State
College, he taught school for two years at Wahkiacus, where he said he
particularily enjoyed his worked with the Indian children, and for eight
years at Wishram. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. In 1946 he
returned to Centerville where he farmed until he retired in 1971.
Erickson was married to Wanda Brooks, who survives him
along with their son, Roger. He was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church
in Centerville, and was said to have enjoyed the Bible study sessions
there.
Also surviving is one brother, Leo of Ocean Park; and
three sisters, Hilda Hughes. The Dalles; Ida Jackson, Portland; and Jennie
Clark of Long Beach.
Services will be held June 20 at the Knosher Funeral
Home, with Ray Hilman officiating. Pallbearers are Alvin Randall, Otis Mattson,
Merele Wiidanen, Gene Wallman, Rod Hall and Gordon Anderson. Interment will
be in the Centerville Cemetery.
