H.W (BILL) HOYES
H.W. (Bill) Hoyes, 70 of Lyle, passed away Jan. 7, 1998
at his home.
He was born June 12,1927 in Seattle to Harry R. and Agnes
A. Hoyes. He graduated from Clevland High School in Seattle and numerous
engineering schools in furtherance of his profession. Bill was a member of
the Marine Engineers Beneficial Association and received an honorable discharge
from the U.S. Coast Guard for his service in the Merchant Marines during
World War II.
Bill spent 45 years sailing the world's seas, retiring
as chief engineer for Sea Land Services, Inc.
He married Fay Patterson in 1960 at Pacifica, Calif.
The couple moved to rural Lyle in 1989.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Faye, in 1996;
and a step-son, Frank Archibald, in 1997.
Survivors include his mother, Agnes Pearson; son, Dave
Archibald; daughter, Kate Wahl; grandchildren, Mike, Kim, Brian, Jill, and
Samantha; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jan. 17 at the Lyle Assembly
of God Church with Pastor Les Haarstad officiating. Burial was in Lone Pine
Cemetery at High Prairie near Lyle. Arrangements were under the care of Erdman
Funeral Home
